The small print, kept short and human, like everything else here.
We're naming our flower round, and celebrating the market behind it. It's free to take part. It runs three Sundays: 7, 14 and 21 June. Entries close Sunday 21 June, and we'll announce the name on Thursday 25 June.
Everyone. You don't have to be an artist. If you're under 18, just get a grown-up's okay first, so we can credit you and show your work properly. UK addresses for the flowers, please.
1. Name us. Tell us what we should be called, and a line on why if you've got one.
2. Make something about the market. A collage, a drawing, a sketch, a doodle, a photograph. Anything. It's basically very simple.
To enter, fill in the form on the entry page: type a name, upload a photo from your phone, or both. Or bring a piece to the market on a Sunday and hand it over by the bike. It's free; you never have to buy flowers to take part.
Two contests, judged separately, both on merit. The name we'll choose for itself — a piece doesn't improve a name's chances, and a name doesn't improve a piece's. Every piece goes up where people can see it, and along the way we'll feature work we love and give flowers to makers picked at random. The best piece of all becomes the face of the whole thing, revealed when we announce the name. Enter both ways and you're in both runnings. Our decision's final, but we'll always be kind about it, and we'll show every entry with every maker's name on it.
The best name wins 5 weeks of flowers, and we'll use it. The best piece wins 5 weeks of flowers too, and becomes our face — on the wrapping, the site, maybe the bike. Along the way we'll feature work we love, and those makers get a bunch of flowers. Plus surprises for the top participants. Prizes are gifts: not cash, not transferable, personal to you.
You keep the copyright to everything you make, always. By entering, you let us show and share your entry with your name on it, to run and celebrate this. If your work goes further (onto our packaging, our identity, the bike), we'll agree that with you first and credit you every time. We'll never use it uncredited, and never sell it as if it were ours. That's a promise, and it's here in writing on purpose.
Your ideas help us find it. We might use yours, blend a few, or keep looking. We also have to check a name's free to use before we commit, so we can't promise to use any single one. Whatever we land on, we'll say who helped us get there.
We'll only use them to run the competition and to let you know when we launch and for delivery updates. You can opt out any time. Privacy policy →
This competition is run by Pedal Me, in collaboration with Kale AI, the Zero Emission Network, and the Columbia Road Flower Market, and supported by an Innovate UK grant. Questions: nicolas@kale.ai or ben@pedalme.co.uk.
If something forces us to change or stop the competition, we'll post it here. If you hand us a physical piece, keep a copy of anything precious. We'll take care of it, but we can't be responsible for accidents. These rules are governed by the law of England and Wales.
That's it. Now go and make something.
